Brrrrr....it sure is chilly around here today--and really windy! Snow flurries are possible for us for the next few nights. Winter does not want to let go and Spring doesn't seem to be putting up that great of a fight.
Our extremely quick trip downstate went okay. Left Friday morning and arrived at our hotel in Grand Blanc Friday afternoon. Spent a few hours in the (cold) hotel pool before getting out to order in some dinner (pizza). Once back to our room, Ryan had the 3 boys get in the shower (together) to rinse off the chlorine. Now, we will have all 3 boys in the tub/shower here at the house and every time we do, I think, "boy, this is a disaster waiting to happen" but we continue to push our luck and do it when we are in a rush. Can you see where this story is going? Well, contributing to his week-long streak of injuries, Joshua slipped and hit his chin (hard) on the side of the tub. Ryan had me look at it and seeing much too much flesh peaking at me, I knew he had to go to the ER. So off he and I went while Ryan and the 2 boys stayed at the hotel. While I was waiting my 3 hours and 45 minutes in the ER, I kept thinking that I could probably leave, hit a drug store, buy some steri-strips and take care of the laceration myself. But no, I thought for sure he needed a stitch cause of that chunk of fat hanging out of his chin. (Not a huge piece of fat, but it was just dangling out there and I thought they should take a peek at it.) This story gets better..........after all was said and done, they decided to glue the cut saying it was in a good area and the 'perfect' type of laceration to use glue on (and not put Joshua thru sutures). Josh was the perfect patient--really he was. And here is the best part of the story: less than 12 hours later, the glue was hanging off his chin! At that point, Ryan and I were totally pissed and decided to do what we both were thinking in the first place: go to a drug store, buy our own supplies, and take care of Joshie. And we did. Poor kid. He's had a rough week.
Saturday morning was spent in the pool (still cold although they said it was 80) and then some relaxing in the room. The evening was spent in Richmond for our nephew's college graduation party. (Congrats again Matthew!) Most of Ryan's family had no idea we were coming so it was funny to see the look of shock and surprise on people's faces. I was just so happy to see everyone--most of them haven't seen us for about a year or so. The question of the night was, "What happened to Joshua?" The poor kid has a huge scab on his forehead and a gash under his chin. It was not pretty. Everyone had a really good time but it was a late night for the family as we didn't get home till almost 1am.
Sunday was check-out day at the hotel so we headed to Janine & Mark's house to see them. I left Ryan and the boys there and went to my cousin's baby shower. That was awesome cause I got to see Jackie & Nicholas, Alida & Miranda, Kelly, Aunt Barb, and lots of cousins that I have not seen in forever. As with any Leddy function, there were about 20 babies there--all cute and snuggly.
After the shower it was back to Janine & Mark's to celebrate Mark's Birthday. After a good dinner and a wonderfully yummy dessert, it was time for us to head out. We arrived home at about 1am and went right to bed. (Didn't even unload one item from the van!) It was a quick but busy weekend. Next anticipated trip downstate for us won't be until after Jackie has the baby--I hope to coordinate that trip to Justin's grad party around the 14th of June.
Made a quick trip to the Soo this morning for Aaron to get his pictures taken. Much to my surprise, he did really good. The trick was that I let him bring his basketball, soccer ball, and baseball stuff to get in the pictures with him. All the pics are cute and I have decided that my Bear is getting too big.
Off to get the kids ready for Tee Ball. But wait, I think its raining.............
