I was offered an on call today, which I gladly accepted. On call means exactly what it sounds like, I'm on call and must be available to head into work if needed. What happened was there was more than enough RNs scheduled for the census, so they ask you to be on call instead. I get paid a few dollars an hour (very small amount) to stay on call for the 12 hours. If it gets busy or they need me to come in for one reason or another, I will then get paid time and a half for every hour I work. Not a bad gig overall. I didn't have to take the on call, I could have pulled seniority, but today I chose to take it.
This weekend St Ignace is having an Arts and Crafts fair. (Hence the reason I took the on call). The family will walk up there to see what is available. Last night we had a great night enjoying our new town. There were several different singers performing along the walking paths, facepainting for the kids, a bounce house, and several other activities as well. It was the last 'Fab Friday' so we didn't want to miss it. St Ignace does many activities throughout the summer. It is especially nice as no matter how busy town is, we don't really know it from our home. We are close enough to walk to it all, but still are located where we are almost isolated from it. We also are within walking distance to 3 parks for the kids and places to swim. And if you walk one direction, you can clearly see the Grand Hotel over on the island. It's pretty sweet if you think about it. (If you also add the sports that the boys were able to take part in over the summer, the move was totally worth it.)
I'm sitting here in the quiet of the home, listening to the crows chatter outside while enjoying my coffee. Trudie is at my feet. (I love her!) And just on cue, Joseph is starting to fuss. He must know I am still here.......
