I want to talk about Facebook today. I love Facebook, I really do. I love connecting with people that I otherwise wouldn't be able to keep in contact with. It's fun. But then I see some comments from some people and I cringe. There are those people who complain about eveything and after awhile, it's annoying. I have often contemplated blocking those people just so I didn't have to see their constant comments of how thier life is so hard because they ran out of soap. I'm not exaggerating, there is someone on facebook who does just that. And then there are those young ones, ones who are just fairly new to the site and find it a liberating place where they can speak thier mind about many topics. But you see, sometimes their maturity shows through, or should I say lack of maturity. They post comments that are filled with profanities. I mean, not just one or two words, but seems that every other post has an f-bomb dropped. And hey, I am not opposed to swearing and have been known to drop the f-bomb myself at times. (I still love that clever little video dedicated to the many uses of the f-bomb) BUT, these uses are just needless, inappropriate uses of the word. You can just read the posts and tell that this person is young and just using Facebook to try to sound cool or older than they really are. I try not to let these posts bother me, but they do, as a few of them are family members of mine. As I read these posts, I just have to shake my head and hope that one day soon these posts change.
I am still struggling through this cold that I have. Sent home sick on Wednesday, went to work Thursday but was told several times that I could go home sick if I needed, and finally got called off work on Friday. The paycheck is going to suffer, but I honestly needed that time to rest. Working 12 hours as an RN when you are this sick is not easy.
All the leaves have pretty much fallen here in Paradise. There are a few that are staying strong and refusing to fall, but pretty soon the winds will pick up and force them down. We've already had snow :) And Halloween is still 8 days away!
The Haunted Trail was great. We had a wonderful turn out, I think just over 1,000 people came through. The first night I worked the site that ended up giving me a sore back and neck. If you see the picture, you will see why. I can't quite seem to remember the name of that device, so if someone out there knows, just drop me a comment. Was it stockade? The second night I was a Trail Guide. I love being a guide, it is my favorite thing to do. I just laugh and laugh when the people are scared and scream. My first group was 4 boys, around the ages of 13 I'm guessing. They were SOOOOO scared. One finally asked if he could hang onto my arm. Then after being made fun of by his friends, the others ended up grabbing onto my other arm and back of my cape. It was hilarious!

This next picture is of Brendan during the Trail. He worked the entire time on Friday night. It was cold and a bit windy, yet he stayed in character and would jump out and scare people time after time. I think that could quite possibly make him the youngest person to work the entire night at the Trail. We were so proud of him!
How about an update of my current reading? A friend has gotten me into books by Wanda E. Brunstetter. She writes books about Amish families. It gives some insight into the Amish way of life but are focused on the characters finding strength from their religion & way of life. They are easy reads but I enjoy them. Not sure what will be next on my reading list, as I have many ideas but sometimes our library doesn't have what I'm looking for. I could always have them order me the books, but I don't always think of that at the time.
Well, I suppose that is enough of an update for now. I hope you are all having a wonderful day and enjoying this beautiful season!
