Vacation Stuffs

Here I sit early in the morning waiting for my hubby and 2 older sons to wake their asses up and get out of bed. Joshua was up at 6am, to fall asleep again at 6:45am and get up again just before 8am. That all means that instead of me normally getting up at 7am on my own, I was up with him at 6am and never went back to sleep. Yeah for me. He and I have already been downstairs for our free breakfast. I love the breakfast thing at hotels. I get up early and am hungry so I can go eat instead of waiting around for the rest of the clan to get up and moving.

Where are we you ask? Today we woke up in Houghton. We started our vacation Wednesday afternoon, driving to Munising to stay there overnight. Then Thursday to Marquette. Then Friday we drove to Copper Harbor and then drove back down to stay overnight in Calumet. Yesterday we left Calumet to drive the whole maybe 20 minutes to end up here in Houghton. Not sure what is next on our agenda. It may be staying here another night and having fun, or it may be to start heading back home. I will have to wait till Ryan wakes up to see what he wants to do.

While in Munising, we spent a lot of time around the Pictured Rocks. Awesome. Miner's Castle, Miners Falls (and the hike to get there), and Miners Beach were highlights. Beautiful. I will post pics once we get home. In Hancock we toured Quincy Mine, which was pretty damn cold at 43 degrees. Other than that, its been a lot of seeing the scenery that our great state has to offer and really getting a greater appreciation for the greatest of the Great Lakes, Lake Superior.

The boys are mostly enjoying swimming in hotel pools every day. Joshua, my little minnow that we now call Nemo, is having a ball. He jumps in the pool, goes totally under water, and wants more. He tries to swim out of our arms all the time. ("Look! Nemo's swimming out to sea!") All this with no water wings. It scares the shit out of Ryan.

Yesterday we went bowling. I came right out of the gate just rocking the game-must be all that Wii bowling practice! Ryan sucked. But then he must have remembered that he bowls left-handed and started getting strike after strike. Dammit. The boys did great for one entire game. Lots of money was spent, I'm sure, on video games and go-karts for Ryan and the big boys when I was back at the room letting Josh take his nap.

Damn, its almost 10am and they are still asleep. Joshua and I should just leave and go shopping or something.

This post was longer than I anticipated it to be. I really meant just to leave a quick post but got carried away. That's what happens when you are up early, even on vacations, and have late sleepers in the family.
