Brrrrr. Still cold but it is supposed to be getting warmer out. I hope it warms just a bit for the weekend. My goal is to get the boys and I out for a walk on the ice in our snowshoes. (Well, I would borrow my Mom's or Dad's snowshoes.) After this cold spell, I figure a walk would finally be pretty safe.
On the lookout for a used Leapster for my youngest. I thought I had a good tip (from freecycle) that there were 2 at the Goodwill in the Soo, but nope, not what I was looking for. I have looked on ebay, but used are going for what I could buy a new one for. If anyone has one that works, I'd be interested in buying it from you at a cheap price.
Due to weather, it has been taking me anywhere from 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes to get to school. In that time I talk myself thru school things (step by step skills that I will be tested on) or listen to the radio or CD's a lot. My favorite CD of the moment is Sams Town by The Killers. Love it. That and my coffee are making my drives bearable.
I've been thinking about this 'incentive package' or whatever they are calling it, that the government in discussing. How nice, giving our own money back to us. Yeah government. But in all my listening to the radio programs (NPR and other stations here in the north), the talk is that this money would stimulate the economy by us, the taxpayers, spending that money. Huh. But here is my thought: MOST people I know would not use that money to go on a spending spree. Most people I know NEED that money and would most likely pay bills or set aside to pay bills in the near future. I can only think of a few people that I have no doubt would blow that money without thinking twice, no regards to bills owed. So here is my question for anyone who cares to answer: What would you do with the money?? Myself and my husband, we would pay bills or set it aside for a emergency-type fund. We do joke about getting a Wii, although we have no time to even play one. Maybe we'd have a family day with a small portion of it (by that I mean dinner and a movie for the family), but seriously, we would not blow it. Is that the wrong thing to do for the country?
So leave me what you think. Are you going to be a spender or a saver? (I know this isn't a sure thing yet but pretend that it is!)

Robin and I were talking about that last night. We'll spend some money on clothes for all of us (you know, fun stuff like socks and underwear, maybe new shoes...woot woot) and the rest would go right into the savings account.
We would be putting it in the savings. Unless when we got the check we were behind on bills. Then, like you said, it would be spent on household bills.
Sounds like it will be sent out in June? I'd love to take a summer vacation on it but that just isn't in the plans. No stimulating the economy here from this house!
Although.....if our savings account does get to a certain number in the next 12-24 months I would be advocating on behalf of my children for a Disney vacation. Sounds frivolous but I'm feeling the itch to get them to Disney. Maybe I could use part of the money for that!
We'll probably be spenders. That seems like all we usually do anyways.
Hmm... haven't thought too much about it. I think we would be one of the bill paying people. Got some credit cards I would like to see a little lower balance...
