Let's start off today with something that made me smile and even cry a little. I was just looking thru the papers from preschool for yesterday. The teacher had each one of the children tell her how they make a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. Brendan's directions for making a turkey: "Make one and bake one for 20 minutes at 300 degrees. Get it out of the oven and eat it. (He also wants pepperoni on it.) Aaron's directions for making a turkey: "Put it in a pan and cook it for 2 hours. Then take it out and eat it." Love it, just love it. I'll be eating Aaron's turkey, as I fear that Brendan's may make us sick. BUT, the pepperoni may make it pretty tasty! This is something that will be saved for sure.
Now my confession: I don't really want to leave here today. Its not that I don't want to see our families, its just that I don't want the hassle that it means to us. Packing up a family of 5 to stay at 2 different houses for just a few short days is a lot of work. The drive is 6 hours both ways with children who, for their ages of 4, 3, & 8 months, do great in the car, but still, its hard on them. There is this overwhelming desire for me to say screw it and stay here to enjoy a few days of rest for Ryan and I, have ample time to spend with the boys, visit with Jim & Kelly while they are here, and just enjoy our life in the U.P.
Oh--forgot to post the other day that I saw a moose this past Friday. Sat there and watched her until I had to leave for school or risk being late for class. And yesterday, finally, Ryan saw a moose on his drive home. Not only did he see a moose, but just about a 1/4 mile before seeing her, he saw a buck standing on the side of the road. How cool is that?
Not sure if I will be able to post again till after Thanksgiving, so I hope everyone has a great one. Thanks Jen for your post. I feel the same as you!
