Now that he is a big boy, over the weight limit on his bassinet, he spent his very first night sleeping in his crib last night. He slept all thru the night, not waking once. It is always hard for me to have the babies sleep in a different room that me, but he was ready. It would be different if he was up at night wanting to nurse, but he has been sleeping thru the night since he was about 5 or so weeks old. We have decided that he is about ready for the walker. Too early for most 3 month olds, but not a 3 month old who wants to keep up with his two older brothers!
Ice cream. I am currently enjoying my favorite flavor of Peanut Butter and Chocolate. Yum. Not the kind that has gross peanut butter cups in it, that is just horrible. I like the chocolate ice cream with peanut butter swirled in. Again I say Yum. My husband is enjoying one of his favorite ice cream treats, a drumstick. And so you don't think the kids missed out, both Brendan and Aaron had theirs earlier and then had a much needed bath afterwards.
Ooohhh, I almost forgot about my orientation. Saw some friends from previous classes, Matt and Dawn. Also sad NOT to see some friends that I knew were hoping to be accepted for this year but were not. It was 4 hours and 45 minutes long with one 10 minute break--we were told to "get used to it, it's the life of a Nurse." It was enlightening, to say the least. I feel even more lucky to have made it into the program my first try. As I have said before, they pretty much own your life once you start the program. I was given my schedule and it is pretty much as I expected it to be. Here is how it is laid out:
Mondays I will be in courses from 9am to 3pm.
Tuesdays and Wednesdays I will be doing clinicals: 7am to 12pm the first 8 weeks and then 1pm to 9:15pm the second 8 weeks.
Thursdays I will be in courses again, this time from 8am to 3pm.
For this semester, I will have Fridays off. Doesn't sound bad at first glance, but add to that the 36 to 45 hours they suggest for study time, driving time, and the possibility of me working....you do the math. I now have some information to look at between schools--Lake Superior State or St Clair Community College. Should I stay here and get my Associates or go north and come out with my BSN in almost the same time? What is the best decision for our young family now and also for the future? AAAAAhhhhhhhh! I think I know what our decision already is, but I am just having a hard time grasping it, mostly for pride's sake.
As I was reading Heather's Blog the other day I had to laugh about their picnic in the park. Some Dad was freaking out over the little ones hugging and holding hands. I am assuming he was/is a germ freak. Yes, I know people like that.........they will get over it the more kids they have, unless of course it only gets worse, which I know people like that as well. I would love to go on a picnic to the park with Heather and that cutie L---let's make a plan soon. And I promise I won't freak if our kids hug or hold hands.
Ryan and I have noticed something these past few nights: Aaron will now sit still for books. FINALLY! He was always the one who was running around the room, climbing all over, doing everything but paying attention to us when we read. Brendan has always sat quietly when we would read to him, so Aaron not doing it really bothered us. But we trudged on as suggested by "the experts" and now things have changed. Not only that, but I have started to read much longer books with a more involved storyline and both boys really stay in tune with them. I think its great and hope it rubs off on Baby J. Now I read to three little boys each night, all laying side-by-side in Brendan's bed. I should get a picture of that. I think of Jackie & Jeff reading to thier little one when he arrives.......I am betting he will be reading novels by age 4, as both his parents are very avid readers.
After much babbling, I will leave you with my most favorite photo of late.

I think Joshua is an incredibly cute baby!!! And yep, he may be getting a tad bit big for the infant tub. I have to tell ya, I think he's bigger than my girls were at a year old. But we'll just blame that on the fact they were preemies.
Anyway, adorable times infinity. Keep the pics coming!
